This course examines the potential of using games & simulations for the purposes of instruction.
It addresses the social phenomenon of these immersive environments for their cognitive and affective impact on the users.
Students will play video games, reflect on their impact in instruction, and design their own serious games.
Students will then work in interdisciplinary teams to develop a prototype of their game using professional level software that is standard in the game industry today.

Team members will have different responsibilities based on their interests and expertise. These resposibilites may include graphic design, 3D modeling, programming, sound editing, development of learning objectives, and project management.
The class will meet on Wednesday from 5:45-8:15pm in ED 2261.
Undergraduate students should enroll in EDUC-R347.
Graduate students should enroll in EDUC-F500.
